JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University Head Coach Tim Montez has announced the addition of Connor Marabell (Jacksonville, Fla.) to the Dolphins roster for the 2013-14 academic year. A transfer from Seminole State College [Sanford, Fla.], Marabell joins the program as a sophomore starting this fall.

“Connor is a versatile and athletic outfielder/first baseman who has gap power, gets on base, drives in runs and can hit in the middle of our order,” said Montez of the lefthander. “On top of all that he is a scholar-athlete in the classroom. We look forward to continuing the Marabell tradition in JU baseball family.”

Connor is the fourth Marabell to attend JU and the third to wear the Dolphin Green and Gold. Both of his parents, Scott and Jocelyn and his uncle, Luke attended JU. Scott (1986-87) and Luke (1994-95) both played baseball for the Dolphins.

Signed by new JU Assistant Head Coach, Chris Hayes out of high school to play at Seminole State College, Marabell (6’0”, 190 lbs) was part of the Raiders 2013 MFC runner up and State Tournament team that finished fourth in the State of Florida. Last season at Seminole Sate, he hit a team best .383 while leading the team to a 36-14 overall record. During the course of the season he also led the Raiders in extra base hits, runs scored, RBI and slugging percentage.
