A mere 10 days after he was drafted in the 10th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates, former Dolphin Alex McRae made his professional debut for the organization on Monday.

Assigned to the Pirates Class A Short Season Affiliate, McRae started his first professional game for the Jamestown Jammers on Monday against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. A Friday night starter for Jacksonville this season, the Wisconsin native went 2.1 innings allowing no runs on two hits while striking out thre of the ten hitters he faced before reaching his pitch count.

McRae became the 80th draft pick out of Jacksonville University this season and the 17th picked in the top 10 rounds.
