Jacksonville Has An A-Sun Best Four Teams Earn NCAA APR Award
Volleyball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, and indoor track & field all earn NCAA Public Recognition Award
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville University athletics proudly claimed four NCAA Public Recognition Awards, based on the most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate as volleyball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country and indoor track & field were all honored on Wednesday (June 5).
The four teams representing the Dolphins make up half of the eight Public Recognition Awards received by the current Atlantic Sun membership.
The awards are given each year to teams with APRs in the top 10 percent in each sport. This year marks the fourth consecutive and seventh recognition in the last eight years by the men’s cross country team. It is the second year for the indoor track & field program, while women’s cross country and volleyball earned their first recognitions this season.
Men’s cross country, women’s cross country, and volleyball each posted a perfect 1000 four-year APR and indoor track & field posted a 997.
Each year, the NCAA tracks the classroom performance of student-athletes on every Division I team through the annual scorecard of academic achievement, known as APR. The score measures eligibility and retention each semester or quarter and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport. The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 academic years.
