Spring Season Wraps Up With A 20-10 Green Victory

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University concluded its spring practices on Sunday with the annual Green and White intersquad scrimmage at D.B. Milne Field. A fourth quarter rally gave the Green team a 20-10 victory.

Jeremy Jones got things started with an interception on the first play of scrimmage for the Green team. Green quickly turned this into points when Kade Bell hit Andrew Robustelli for an 18-yard touchdown catch. White quickly drove down the field by converting a 3rd and 15 catch and run for 21 yards by Orlando Thomas from Pat McCain as well as 25 yard scramble by McCain. McCain knotted things up when he hit D’Andre Randle from 35 yards out to make it 7-7.

After the early scores both defenses found their rhythm by making multiple stops inside their own 20-yard line as well as on 4th down. White went into half with a 10-7 lead after a Ryan Giaratano field goal completed a drive that was highlighted by a 50-yard pass from Craig Peludat to Austin Lawrence.

The 3rd quarter was a defensive stalemate as Terrance Bryant picked off a pass as well recovered a fumble all within the quarter for the White team. Johnny Jones came up with a hard hit causing a fumble removed by Taylor McCullers for the Green team.

The Green team dominated the 4th quarter as Andrew Hooks returned an interception 44 yards to the White 15 yard line. Bell hit Bobby Hart on 3rd down from 15 yards out to make the score 14-10 Green. The Green team scored again on the last play of the game when DL Josh Gilmore took a last second desperation heaves to the end zone for six points resulting in a 20-10 Green victory.
