Challenging Conditions Spoil Day One of Eagle/Osprey Intercollegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Matched up against a talented field and challenging conditions, the Jacksonville men’s golf team completed day one of play at the Eagle/Osprey Intercollegiate with a 615 (314-301) team score at Deerwood County Club in Jacksonville.

With winds gusting 20-25 mph and on and off drizzle throughout the day, the Dolphins sat 15th of 15 team after the opening round. Connor Salanger would help rally the team in round two however. Led by a two-under, 70 from Salanger, Jacksonville tied for the seventh lowest round two team score in the field with a 301 that moved the squad into 13th place and just eight shots out of the top 10.  

Junior Brett McKinnon sits tied for 16th after the first 36 holes at five-over, 149 (75-74). Salanger meanwhile went from 83rd into a tie for 51st with his second round performance.
