SWITZERLAND- Jacksonville University alum Sebastian Kuhn has entered the Red Bull X Row, a race that consists of 8-man teams taking on two lakes and three cross-country runs.
Known as the world’s hardest and craziest rowing race, it totals 25 kilometers, with seven of them be ran while carrying a 100-kg boat. In its third year since inception, X Row is set to occur this weekend, Saturday, Oct. 5, in Switzerland.
This will be Kuhn’s first year participating in the rowing event. He graduated from JU in 2010 and currently trains with the California Rowing Club with the goal of making the national team for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
No stranger to success, Kuhn holds the JU ergometer record times for both the 2k and 6k and made history as part of the first Varsity 8 crew in program history to earn the right to compete in the Intercollegiate Rowing Championships (IRA) Regatta, the oldest rowing championship in the United States.
