JACKSONVILLE, Fla.  – With two races already under their belt, the Jacksonville University men’s rowing program is prepared to take on one of the world’s largest rowing regattas in the Head of the Hooch. Head Coach Montia Rice has five boats competing in the head race which is set to begin on Saturday, Nov. 2 in Chattanooga

Last year, the men’s Novice 8 and Championship 8 boats each had second-place finishes, finishing the course with times of 15:44.5 and 15:19.5, respectively. This year, the Dolphins will have two boats in the 5,000 meter Championship 8; one in the Novice 8+, and two in the Championship 4+.

“The guys have been grinding it out for the past couple of months training and not really racing,” commented Rice. “I think it’s safe to say that we are excited to get out and race against some really good competition. We are much farther along than this time last year, so it will be interesting to see how we stack up with some of the top crews in the country”.
