JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin has announced the addition of Brandon Rohr to the Jacksonville University women’s basketball team. Rohr comes to JU after spending last season as an assistant coach with Southern Illinois University.
“I am extremely excited about having Brandon on staff,” said McCuin. “He will work primarily with the post players and will be an asset to my staff and the JU Community.”
With five years of coaching experience under his belt, Rohr started his career as the assistant women’s basketball coach at his alma mater, Nebraska Wesleyan University, in 2008. While at Nebraska his main responsibilities included assisting with post player workouts and on-court instruction of defensive drills.
Following a one-year stint in Nebraska, Rohr moved on to Concordia University Texas where he aided the team in posting a 37-15 overall record and a 33-11 American Southwest Conference record from 2010-2012. The Tornados were also ASC West Division Champions and ASC Tournament Champions and made a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament in the 2011-12 season.
In conjunction with his coaching responsibilities, Rohr also served as the recruiting coordinator, academic coordinator and took on administrative and fundraising duties. As the recruiting coordinator, many of his signees went on to earn ASC honors including Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Freshman of the Year and other All-Conference honors.
Rohr landed at Southern Illinois University after serving Concordia University Texas from 2009-2012. He again served as the assistant women’s basketball coach and recruiting coordinator. With SIU, Coach Rohr’s on-court coaching mainly concerned the development of post players. His guiding of freshman Dyana Pierre assisted her in averaging 9.2 rebounds per game (1st in MVC) and recording eight double-doubles (5th in MVC).
"I am extremely excited and grateful to coach Yolett McCuin for the opportunity to be a part of her staff at Jacksonville University,” said Rohr. “She is a talented coach, a great person and I look forward to assisting her in building a championship program at JU."
