JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The JU women’s cross country team was announced as one of the 2012 USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Teams.
To qualify for the honor, a team’s cumulative GPA has to be over a 3.0. JU was one of 200 Division 1 teams to earn the honor and its 3.595 GPA was the 17th best in the country.
“It is a wonderful measure of achievement for the women in our cross country program,” said Dolphin head coach Ron Grigg. “They are excellent students and great athletes who can proudly be recognized as exemplary ambassadors of our university.”
The cross country team finished third at the Atlantic Sun Championships back in October. Those seven athletes just helped the Dolphins win the A-Sun indoor track title for the eighth straight year by contributing 55.5 points to the overall team score.
The Dolphins will now look to match their eighth straight indoor title with their eighth straight outdoor title. The season kicks off this Friday at the UNF Spring Break Open.
