Meyer Named to Atlantic Sun Academic Team

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior cross-country student-athlete Svenja Meyer was named to the 2013 Women’s Cross Country Academic All-Conference Team, the league announced Monday, Nov. 11.

Meyer holds a 3.89 grade point average in Accounting.

She led the Fins all season, crossing JU's most recent event, the Atlantic Sun Championships, second of 82 runners in 17:37.19. Named to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference First Team, Meyer was only behind first-placed Kelly Perzanowski of Florida Gulf Coast (17:21.02).

She finished sixth (17:33.65) overall at the Florida State Invitational (Oct. 11), second overall at the FLrunners.com 14 Invitational in 17:52.90 (Sept. 27) and first overall in 13:56.00 at the JU Short Course Dual 3686 meter run to start the season (Aug. 30). 

The Atlantic Sun introduced the new sport-by-sport Academic All-Conference teams for the 2011-12 academic year to recognize student-athletes “who embody the conference’s mission of Building Winners for Life,” the conference noted.

All the members of the team have earned a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team’s games.
