SARASOTA, Fla. – Junior Jessica Welch followed up her Monday round of 69 with a +1 final round of 73 to end in a tie for 16th place individually, leading the Jacksonville University women’s golf team to a tie for 11th place overall at the 36th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational on Tuesday at the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club.
Welch’s three-round total of 220 this week was the lowest of the fall for any JU golfer at a three-round tournament this year. Following behind Welch was junior Natalie Schmett to shot a 78 on Tuesday to end at 229 and in a tie for 43rd.
Seniors Carlie Gehlhausen and Francesca Yong each shot rounds of 77 on Tuesday. Gehlhausen wrapped up her tournament with a total of 231 – including a hole-in-one on Monday – to finish in a tie for 51st. Yong ended at 232 among a group of golfers tied for 54th. Rounding out the Jacksonville squad was junior Morgan Matchett, who shot a 78 and ended the tournament with a total of 236 to finish in a tie for 67th.
The Dolphins ended the tournament with a total of 912 to finish all square with Bradley in 11th. Missouri rallied furiously to leapfrog over three teams and finish as the overall champion with a score of 873.
Tuesday’s final round marked the end of the fall season for Jacksonville. The spring season opens with JU hosting the Amelia Island Collegiate on Feb. 17-18 at the Amelia National Golf & Country Club.
