Defending Atlantic Sun Champions Release 2014 Schedule
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Head Coach Mindy McCord and the Jacksonville University women’s lacrosse team are pleased to announce their 2014 season schedule. The 17-game calendar is highlighted by five 2013 NCAA playoff teams and features a program-high seven away games.

No stranger to big name competition, the Dolphins start the season at D.B. Milne Stadium when they take on Syracuse on Jan. 21.

Following play against the Orange, JU heads to the Swamp to face in-state foe Florida on Feb. 12 and then return back home for a challenge from Colorado shadowed by lacrosse powerhouse and NCAA playoff team James Madison.

March is a busy month for the Dolphins as they host William and Mary, Michigan, Longwood, Wagner and Kennesaw State. JU rekindles their rivalry with eighth-ranked Duke on the road and continues its regional contests with Winthrop in South Carolina.

JU will be tested in April with four consecutive road games starting with top-10 ranked Stony Brook and A-Sun runner-up Detroit over the February 4th weekend. The Dolphins continue A-Sun action against Stetson before heading to Nashville to take on southern rival Vanderbilt. The Fins can even their career record against Vandy at 2-2 with a win on the road, but the stingy Commodores have been extremely successful at home in their storied history.

Conference games close out the season for the Dolphins as rivals Howard and Elon (Senior Day) invade Milne Field. Following the regular season, the Dolphins host the 2014 Atlantic Sun tournament where they look to defend their title.

"We love competing at the highest level and it's fun to be challenged like that. The only way you can sharpen your skills is to play great non-conference opponents and we like the opponents that we have lined up for 2014." said McCord. "We graduated nine seniors so we are hoping to be up for the challenge this season in year five. We hope to continue building upon what we have coming back and add our new players to the mix. It is very exciting and all of us are excited to hit the road more this season and test our skills."

JU is no stranger to difficult schedules. Last season, the Dolphins competed against seven NCAA playoff teams including three programs ranked #1 in the nation at one time or another.

"I think our fans and families will enjoy our lineup of contests this spring and we want to provide some thrills to them and keep the excitement going" summarized McCord.
