JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Both Jacksonville University and Kennesaw State will look to get a leg up in Atlantic Sun women’s lacrosse standings as the two tango at D.B. Milne on Wednesday, March 26. The game will be broadcasted live on A-SUN.TV with a scheduled start time of 4 p.m.

“We are excited to open up conference play versus KSU,” said Head Coach Mindy McCord. “We are looking forward to opening our conference games while we pull together as a team. We still have a lot to prove and overcome but I feel confident that our best days are ahead.”

JU has a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series, defeating the Owls by a margin of 20 goals in each game.

PROFESSORS DAY
Wednesday’s game will also serve as the squads annual Professors Day. Celebrating Jacksonville’s “Professors of the Year”, the Dolphins want to say thank you to those instructors “who are making a difference to create a successful, personal learning environment that have allowed our players to excel in the classroom”.

Last fall, JU boasted the highest GPA on campus with a 3.5.

JU’S LAST OUTING
The Dolphins (5-4) owned a 13-8 decision over Wagner last Wednesday. Multiple Dolphins scored in the contest with Taylor McCord (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Danielle Della Rocca (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) pouring in a combined seven goals.

After the Seahawks drew within one, 3-2, at the midpoint of the opening frame, JU speared a 4-0 run to seize a 7-2 lead at halftime. The Dolphins then continued their scoring streak into the second period as Della Rocca kicked off another 4-0 burst to build their lead to 11-2 at 20:40.

Following a Kristin Purdy (Lake Worth, Fla.) free-position goal, Wagner’s deficit fell to 13-5 before the team tallied three goals in the final seven minutes to close the contest.

MCCORD NAMED ATLANTIC SUN OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Registering four goals, three assists and two ground balls against Wagner earned McCord her second A-Sun Offensive Player of the Week honor.

THE OPPONENT
The winless Owls travel to the First Coast with a record of 0-5. Averaging six goals in their first four contests, KSU recorded a season-high 14 in their narrow 15-14 loss to Presbyterian College last Sunday. Olivia Hokanson guides the Owls offense with 14 goals on 19 shots. Defensively, Sydney Farwick and Taylor McGhee control the most draws at 11 apiece and teammate Emily Collins grabs the most ground balls with 15.
