WLAX Heads North to Face Winthrop

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Jacksonville University women’s lacrosse team (6-4, 1-0 A-Sun) heads north this Saturday, March 29, for a 4 p.m. game at Winthrop.

Meeting for the second time in program history, the Dolphins hope to avoid an even all-time series record. The last time out, JU defeated the Eagles 24-6with Brit Orashen and Taylor McCord chipping in four goals each.

JU’S LAST OUTING
In conference play, both Atlantic Sun and National Lacrosse Conference, the Dolphins have an astonishing record of 21-2. With a game that included 12 different scorers with five of them finishing with a hat-trick, JU continued its success with a league-opening 24-1 victory over Kennesaw State last Wednesday.

The contest marked the fourth time in program history JU has scored 24 goals (ranked 4th all-time), posted 36 points (2nd), and dished 12 assists (5th). The 18 caused turnovers versus the Owls also tie for fifth all-time.

THE OPPONENT
The Dolphins head to Eagle Field to face an overwhelmed Winthrop team. Sitting at 1-3 at home, the Eagles sole win came earlier this month in a 19-10 adventure with Saint Francis. Junior Jenna Kasmarik directs the Eagles with 32 goals and is second on the team in draw controls with 31. Sophomore Shannon Gallagher has netted 17 goals and assisted on 10 others.
