Women's Rowing Learn of Competition at NCAA Selection Show
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University’s women’s rowing program knew they would be heading to Indiana to compete in the NCAA Division I Rowing Championships but had no clue who they would be racing against. In the team’s first appearance to the big dance, the NCAA’s online selection show revealed the 22-team field that would be in competition.

“I’m super proud because this has never happened before for JU,” said Head Coach Jim Mitchell. “We knew we were going to be better this year than in the past but we didn’t expect it to happen this quick. We have a young team. There are a lot of freshmen and sophomores, so we knew we were going to grow but to have it happen this fast is exciting. It makes our alumni proud. It makes the parents proud, the administration proud and just everyone involved proud.”

“Training has been going great. Once we finished Dad Vails we kind of settled down but lately we’ve been putting in a lot of meters, a lot of strokes and covering a lot of river. I think they have been enjoying the eat, sleep and row training times that we do. We really wear them out but I think it’s been going well.”

RACE SCHEDULE:
Varsity 8 (Heat 3): Northeastern, UCLA, Princeton, California, Washington State, Jacksonville
Second Varsity 8 (Heat 3): Northeastern, Indiana, Ohio State, California, Harvard, Jacksonville
Varsity 4 (Heat 3): Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Louisville, Jacksonville

The championships will take place at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, Ind. and is scheduled for May 30-June 1.
