JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville softball team spent Saturday, Oct. 5 volunteering and helping out at the Mega Pet Adoption event, held by First Coast No More Homeless Pets, Inc. -- a company that helps people with low cost/free spay and neuter services – in conjunction with PetSmart and many local Jacksonville pet shelters.

The softball players walked dogs, cleaned cages and helped potential adopters meet the animals.

Overall, the team personally helped find homes for at least 10 pets. The event itself found homes for over 900 animals.

“It was a great experience,” said Graduate Assistant Melanie Hamlin. “The girls were praised by staff and customers for their professionalism, care of the animals and help with the potential adopters.”

Three players even adopted kittens.
