JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Returning to Atlantic Sun Conference play this weekend after a midweek non-conference doubleheader on the road, the Jacksonville University softball team is preparing to host Northern Kentucky this Saturday and Sunday at the JU Softball Complex.
Most recently, Jacksonville (8-10, 0-3 A-Sun) lost a doubleheader in the UCF Round Robin on March 5, falling to host UCF 4-2 and against Boston College 5-0.
Northern Kentucky (1-10, 0-0 A-Sun) will begin its Atlantic Sun Conference play at Jacksonville after losing its most recent doubleheader in the Evansville Invitational on March 1. The Norse fell to Northern Illinois 3-4 and at Evansville 7-8.
Leading Jacksonville at the plate is Victoria Brown with a .327 average (17-for-52), followed by Codi Kelly (.316, 18-for-57) and Cecile Gomez (.292, 14-for-48). Karson Tuck has recorded the most runs with 11, while Brown and Kelly trail with 10 runs and eight runs, respectively.
Northern Kentucky’s Katelyn Roy holds the top spot with a .333 average (9-for-27), while Dee Dee Davis (.300, 9-for-30) and Allie Conner (.300, 3-for-10) follow.
All-time, the Fins are 3-0 against Northern Kentucky, which joined the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2012. Jacksonville beat the Norse 4-2 (8), 6-4 and 6-0 during the 2013 season in Highland Heights, Ky.
Jacksonville will start against Northern Kentucky with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
