JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University softball is preparing to host non-conference Florida A&M on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. single contest.
The Fins (14-23, 5-12 A-Sun) most recently were swept at North Florida April 5-6, with a close double-header on Saturday. They lost 4-3 (8) and 3-2 on Saturday before falling 7-2 on Sunday. The first game was JU’s third extra-inning contest on the season.
Highlights from the UNF series include Lexie Ballard hitting .667 (4-for-6) with one run and two doubles during the double-header as well as Karson Tuck’s three-run homer in the top of the first frame in the extra inning loss.
Freshman Charli Bradshaw (.328), Cecile Gomez (.304) and Codi Kelly (.299) hold the best averages, while Victoria Brown leads on the mound with a 3.00 ERA over 116.2 innings pitched.
FAMU (14-21, 3-3 MEAC) most recently finished 1-for-3 against North Carolina A&T April 5-6. The Rattlers were knocked down 8-3 and 7-0 on Saturday before winning the series finale 2-1. On the road the Rattlers stand 4-4.
Whitney Farris (.390), Denise Anderson (.338) and Amber Fullwood (.324) lead at the plate for FAMU.
All-time, JU is 17-5 against FAMU.
