JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A new state-of-the art scoreboard will be fully operational for the Dolphins as the JU baseball team hosts Atlantic Sun Conference leader Florida Gulf Coast this weekend beginning with a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Friday at John Sessions Stadium.
Continuing the excitement this weekend will be the 10th annual JU Baseball Gala and Auction on Saturday at 6:30 p.m., in the Touchdown Terrace Suite at the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.
The Daktronics scoreboard, which was erected over the weekend behind the right center wall, will feature a video board and a radar display for pitches.
Along with the new scoreboard, John Sessions Stadium received a new brick walkway entering the ball park and new netting behind home plate which now stretches to the end of each dugout. Other improvements planned are a new concessions facility beneath the stands which will be completed next season.
"We are excited about the renovations that we are making to John Sessions Stadium and believe that once everything is completed, we will have one of the top facilities in the Southeast," said JU director of athletics Alan Verlander. "Thanks to our generous donations, we have been able to upgrade our stadium and provide fans with a great experience every time they visit."
JU opens the week with a pair of non-conference road games on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. against Bethune-Cookman and Wednesday at 3 p.m. versus Florida A&M. Both contests can be followed through GameTracker on JUDolphins.com.
