April 25, 2008

DeLAND, Fla. - The JU baseball team looks to break out of its slump in Atlantic Sun Conference play this weekend as they face in-state rival Stetson in a key three-game series.

The Dolphins (22-18, 11-13 A-Sun) are looking to snap a five-game losing streak in league play.

"This has been a tough week of prepartion as we are in the middle of finals," said JU head coach Terry Alexander. "But, this is a big series against an in-state rival on the road, so our guys will be ready to play this weekend."

Jacksonville battled the league leader last weekend but was swept by Florida Gulf Coast. The Dolphins will look to the duo of Carson Andew and Matt Dobbins on the mound in the doubleheader to set the tone.

Dobbins is in the midst of a solid campaign, swinging a hot stick to go with stellar outings on the mound. Dobbins' record is 4-3 with a 3.88 earned run average in 11 appearances on the mound. At the plate, Dobbins is hitting .388 with one home run and eight runs batted in.

Game one of the doubleheader will be broadcast on 1010XL, with Barry Milligan calling the action. The rest of the series will be available on HatterVision through GoHatters.com as well as GameTracker through JUDolphins.com.
