DeLAND, Fla. - The JU baseball team fell behind early and was never able to recover at Stetson took the rubber game of the three-game Atlantic Sun Conference series, 14-4.
The Hatters put up four in the first and followed with three in the second to take control of the game as they went through three pitchers in the first four innings.
On the mound, Stetson (19-26, 9-15 A-Sun) got a complete game gem from starter Robby Donovan (3-4). The right hander allowed four runs, three earned, on nine hits. He struck out six and walked just one.
"Stetson took advantage of its opportunities and hit the ball well today," said JU head coach Terry Alexander. "It's hard to comeback after you dig a hole early like we did today."
The Dolphins (23-20, 12-15 A-Sun) meanwhile went through six pitchers during the game, with Sean Green's 2.1 innings being the longest outing for JU. Tim Brown (2-4) got the loss as he allowed four runs on four hits in just one-third of an inning.
The Hatters racked up 19 hits in the game, as six Hatters finished the game with multiple hits. Casey Frawley paced the offensive attack by going 5-for-6 with three runs scored and three RBI. Justin Bass was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI as well.
The Dolphins return home for a non-conference contest against Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday at John Sessions Stadium. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
