Freeman Runs 800 Meters at USA Track & Field Championships
DES MOINES, Iowa,-- Jacksonville Second Team All-American and Atlantic Sun Champion Bienna Freeman competed in the 800 meters at the USA Track & Field Championships on Thursday.
Freeman ran in the fifth of the five preliminary heats for the event and posted a 2:09.43. After the first lap she was just .35 seconds off the leader but slightly faded on the second lap to finish fifth. The top two finishers of each of the five heats along with the next six fastest times advanced to the semifinals with a chance to represent the United States at the upcoming World Championships.
Although Freeman did not advance to the next round, the senior finishes her Dolphin career as one of the most decorated athletes in program history. She holds the program record for the 800m (indoor and outdoor), 4x400m relay (indoor and outdoor), and distance medley (indoor). She also won the A-Sun 800m title an indoor and outdoor combined five times.
