Meyer and Solis Break 20-Year JU Record at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Senior Svenja Meyer and freshman Katy Solis each broke Jacksonville University track and field’s almost 20-year old record in the 10k with their performances at the historic 120th Penn Relays Thursday evening.

Meyer finished sixth of 36 in the 10,000m run, crossing in 34:34.98, besting JU’s previous record of 37:25.31 set by Allison Wilfong on May 14, 1994. Solis also broke the record with a time of 36:46.05.

"I am so proud of both Svenja and Katy's efforts tonight,” said Head Coach Ron Grigg. “They perfectly executed their first ever 10k races. It really is a proud moment.”

Penn State’s Leigha Anderson won the 10k in 33:52.32 and was followed by runners from West Virginia (34:11.20), Harvard (34:11.97), Albany (34:13.82) and Indiana (34:33.69).
