JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University track and field swept the Atlantic Sun weekly awards on Wednesday, April 30. Shanique Walker and Samantha Turner were named the A-Sun Women’s Track Performer of the Week and Field Performer of the Week, respectively.

Walker earned her second career outdoor track performer of week award and second of the season after her winning 400m hurdles performance at last Saturday’s North Florida Invitational. Walker crossed in 58.51 seconds for one of two Jacksonville wins. Walker's 400m hurdles time stands 22nd in the NCAA Div. I and 11th in the NCAA Div. I East Region. She also finished second in the 100m hurdles in 13.43 seconds, which ranks 34th nationally and 21st in the East Region, and ran a leg of the 4x100m relay squad that finished second of five teams in 44.89 seconds.

Turner nabbed her first career outdoor field performer of the week award after winning the discus throw at the UNF Invite with a toss of 47.50m (155-10), which ranks second in the A-Sun. She also placed second of 12 in the shot put with her A-Sun leading toss of 13.67m (44-10.25).
