Men’s Lacrosse Signs 17 for Upcoming 2014 Season
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University head coach of men’s lacrosse, Guy Van Arsdale, has announced his latest recruiting haul as the Dolphins gear up for fall practice. A total of 17 new student-athletes have been added to the roster as JU goes off in search of a conference title in the first year of Atlantic Sun Men’s Lacrosse competition, and a first-ever berth in the NCAA Tournament.
“We are very excited to welcome this year’s freshman class to the Dolphin family,” said Van Arsdale. “As a group they are very accomplished students and athletes. They have all been highly successful on the field and we feel that they will certainly increase our profile physically, and make us a deeper, more athletic squad.”

Butterworth was a two-year captain and four-year letterwinner at Houston HS under Head Coach William Buford … Scored at least 30 goals in each of his four seasons with the program, including 39 goals as a senior … Had a career-high 41 assists as a junior … Played club lacrosse for Bluff City Blues and Southern Combat.

Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor
Mid/Attack – 5-10, 165
Charles earned four varsity letters at Penn Manor HS under Head Coach Kenny Snyder … Scored 59 goals along with 43 assists as a senior, earning Team MVP honors … Helped his team to the most wins in program history his senior season … Had 48 goals and 15 assists as a junior, earning First Team All-League as an attacking mid … Played club lacrosse for Low and Away … Also started two seasons on the Penn Manor basketball and soccer teams, collecting first team honors with each squad.
# 11 Duncan Clancy
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./The Lawrenceville School (Rutgers)
Attack – 6-2, 215
Clancy played three seasons at Rutgers, before missing most of last season due to injury … Will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Dolphins … Led the Scarlet Knights in assists (29) and points (42) as a sophomore in 2011, and ranked ninth in the nation in assists per game (1.87) … Started three years at The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey under Head Coach Allen Fitzpatrick … Twice named First Team All-MAPL in high school, and was a Second Team All-State selection as a senior after compiling 63 points on the season.

Midfield – 6-1, 180
Played one season at Stony Brook and one season at Nassau CC before coming to Jacksonville … Was a national runner-up with Nassau … Will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Dolphins.

Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon
Attack – 5-8, 160
Graham was a two-time All-American at Mount Lebanon HS under Head Coach Mike Ermer … Started all four years for the Blue Devils, winning two district titles … Scored 61 goals as a junior, then added 64 more as a senior to earn Team MVP honors … Was also an all-conference football player.
# 5 Blake Knobloch
Mid/Attack – 5-8, 175
Knobloch played three years at Regis Jesuit HS under Head Coach Jim Soran … The Raiders made it at least to the state semifinals in all three seasons Knobloch was with the team, winning a state title in 2011 … Was an All-State and All-American selection in his senior season, scoring 30 goals and adding 17 assists … Played club lacrosse for Denver Elite.

Defense – 5-11, 175
Kuderski was a four-year starter for Head Coach Jonathan Montes at The Calverton School … The Cougars won league championships in all four seasons with Kuderski on the field … Named All-County and All-Met in both his junior and senior seasons … Honored as Team MVP his senior season and a Maryland State Coaches Senior All-Star … Played club lacrosse for Southern Maryland Select.
# 20 Josh Kuehn
Midfield – 6-3, 190
Kuehn joins Jacksonville after playing midfield for three seasons at Medina HS under Head Coach Pat O’Brien … His team advanced to the state semifinals in both his sophomore and junior seasons … Was named an All-American as a senior after a 45-goal, 30-assist season … Also played one year of football for the Bees.

Vancouver, B.C./Hill Academy
Attack – 6-5, 215
McIntyre joins Jacksonville after spending the last two seasons as a starter for Head Coach Brodie Merrill at The Hill Academy … His school won the British Columbia Provincial championship in each of the last three seasons … As a senior, McIntyre netted 22 goals and gave out 48 assists … Played club lacrosse for Burnaby Mountain Selects.
# 19 Fernando Milanes
Weston, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas
Midfield – 5-10, 170
Milanes has spent the last three seasons as a starter for Head Coach Terry Crowley at St. Thomas Aquinas HS … Has been named an All-American for each of the past two seasons … Also honored as First Team All-Region, All-County, All-Sun Sentinel and All-Miami Herald as a junior and senior … Played club lacrosse for Team Florida.

Nanaimo, B.C./Dover Bay Secondary
Attack – 6-0, 180
Has spent the last two seasons competing for the Nanaimo Jr. A Timbermen … Will sit out the 2014 season and have three years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2015 … In his first season with Nanaimo, registered 28 goals and 26 assists … In his second season, had 38 goals and 39 assists, recording six hat tricks on the season.

Ratigan comes to Jacksonville after starting the last three seasons for Head Coach Jonathan Montes at The Calverton School … Teams won league titles in each of his three seasons with the program … Served as a team captain his senior season, scoring 15 goals and dishing out 10 assists despite missing time due to injury.

Irving, Texas/Dallas Jesuit
Midfield – 5-8, 165
A face-off specialist, Rosengarden earned four letters and started for two seasons at Dallas Jesuit under Head Coach Christopher Surran … The Rangers advanced to state tournament all four years with Rosengarden on the team, and ended two seasons as the state runner-up … Won 138 ground balls and 73 percent of his face-offs as a senior, earning All-State recognition.

St. Louis, Mo./Horton Watkins
Defense – 6-2, 200
Schott earned four letters and started for three seasons under Head Coach Pat Callaham at Ladue Horton Watkins HS … Team won a state championship in Schott’s freshman season … Awarded First Team All-State and All-Metro honors after a senior season in which he picked up 90 ground balls … Second Team All-Metro as a junior … Also played four years of hockey.

Sherwood started four years in goal for Head Coach Tyler Bue at Carlsbad HS … As a junior, took his team to the CIF quarterfinals, the furthest the program had advanced up to that point … Raised the bar as a senior, taking his team all the way to the CIF championship game … Recorded a .714 save percentage as a senior … Participated in the Adrenaline All-American Game … Played club lacrosse for the West Coast Starz and the Adrenaline Tropics.

Swaby earned three varsity letters and started his final two seasons for Head Coach Scott Bulkley at Greenwich HS … Twice named honorable mention as a defensive middie … Team won a conference championship in his sophomore season … Also played two years of football and basketball.
# 15 E.J. Thurmond
Mableton, Ga./Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School
Defense – 6-4, 225
Thurmond started three seasons for Head Coach Mike Thornton at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School … Played suffocating defense for the Bears, picking up more than 150 ground balls and causing more than 75 turnovers in his years with the program … Named an All-American after his senior season, as well as First Team All-State and First Team All-Region … HIES advanced to the state quarterfinals in his senior season … Played club lacrosse for LB3 … Also played three years of football and two years of basketball.
