Women’s Golf in 10th Place After Day One of Minnesota Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Jacksonville University women’s golf team improved markedly in Monday’s second round of the Minnesota Invitational, moving up from 12th to sit in 10th place entering Tuesday’s third and final round from the Minikahda Club.

Teeing off to start the second round from the 10th hole, Francesca Yong found her groove on the course’s front nine, firing a 2-under 33 that included birdies on a par-3, par-4 and par-5. After 36 holes, she is the leader for the Dolphins with a score of 158 (82-76) and is tied for 36th.

Collectively, Jacksonville posted a total of 645 on Monday, and will begin Tuesday three shots ahead of Idaho and four ahead of UC-Irvine. Kent State is the leader in the clubhouse with a two-round total of 599. Illinois trails behind at 603 while Minnesota is in third at 608.
