Dolphins Ready to Soar Over Eagles

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With less than two weeks left in the regular season, the Jacksonville University men’s soccer team heads to Fort Myers for their final road trip of the season. In another tough matchup, the Dolphins take on A-Sun top-seed Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.

FGCU has pieced together another solid season but the Dolphins are hungrier than ever to finish 2013 strong. “We have to go on the road and get points against a very good FGCU team,” commented Head Coach Ryan Pratt. “Every game is important to us at this point in the season. We need to focus on ourselves and make sure we are ready for each and every game. If our mental approach is correct, I am confident we will achieve desired results as our season winds down.”

The Eagles (6-6-2, 4-1-1) are coming off of their first conference and perhaps most devastating loss of the season. A Stetson goal in the final 10 minutes of play snapped FGCU’s seven-match unbeaten streak overall and 11-game unbeaten streak in regular-season league action dating back to last season.

Five Eagle players have three or more goals on the season and leading the balanced offensive attack is sophomore midfielder Felipe DeSousa with five.

After this weekend’s match, the Dolphins return to Southern Oak Stadium to host River City rival North Florida on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.

Notable: Last season, the Dolphins lost to the Eagles, 3-2, in a double overtime thriller.
Coach Quotes: “I expect a very good game. Both teams like to possess the ball and play good soccer. These are the types of games every player wants to play in and we get a chance to go on the road against one of the best teams in the conference and see how we stack up.”
