JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Less than 24 hours away their season opener, the Jacksonville University women’s lacrosse team is geared to start the new year with momentum as they host No. 3 Syracuse at Southern Oak Staidum on Jan. 21 at 5:30 p.m. The Dolphins brought home the Atlantic Sun’s inaugural championship title last season and are looking to build on the fairytale 13-6 season that culminated with an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Syracuse returns nine starters including two first-team All-Americans in senior Alyssa Murray and sophomore Kayla Treanor. Murray, the Big East Attack Player of the Year, led the team in scoring last season with 104 points, which ranked fourth in the nation. Treanor finished second in the nation in goals (71) and sixth in points (95). Both totals were the highest single-season marks for a freshman in the program's history.
Coming off of an 18-4 record in 2013, the Orange advanced to the national semifinals for the third time in four years.
This is the second meeting between the two. The Dolphins started the 2013 season by taking on the Orange resulting in a 21-8 defeat.
Jacksonville takes a trip to Gainesville for a contest against No. 5 Florida on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
