JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a record-setting 2013 indoor volleyball season that saw the Dolphins compete in the opening NCAA round, the JU volleyball program is turning its attention to sand, releasing its 2014 schedule.

The Dolphins will compete in three tournaments before the Atlantic Sun Tournament April 18-20.

“We are looking forward to this sand season,” said Head Coach Michelle Collier. “We had a tremendous indoor season and our goal is to continue to get better and better with our programs. We will take the same work ethic and approach to the sand this spring and work hard to put ourselves in position to fight for the conference championship.

“Our players have learned from this indoor season and understand what it takes to be successful, but now we have to hit the sand, work hard as a team, and push this program to new heights,” Collier continued.

JU begins its season against FIU on March 7 before competing in back-to-back tournaments at UNF (March 8-9) and at Cocoa Beach (March 14-16).

“The exciting thing about this sand season is that we have a lot of depth in our roster, differently from the previous two seasons where we have had a lot of individual pair’s success.

“I expect us to be a strong team from the number one to the number five pair,” Collier added. “The depth we have will create great competition among ourselves and will push everyone to be at their best every day. This is exciting for a coach and I can’t wait to get it started.”

In 2013, Jacksonville finished 4-4 in conference, good for third of five in the Atlantic Sun.
