Jacksonville Alum Russell Knox Finishes Runner-up at PGA TOUR Honda Classic
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Former Jacksonville University golf standout Russell Knox has more than proven his worth on the PGA TOUR this season. The 2007 JU grad narrowly missed his first TOUR win on what has already been a breakout 2014 season.
A business management major at JU, Knox played his way into four-man playoff at the Honda Classic this weekend before he finished runner-up to eventual champion Russell Henley. Knox ended the 72 holes of regulation at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. at -8, 272 (70-63-68-71) to force a playoff with Henley, Rory McIlroy and Ryan Palmer.
The performance marked the second top 10 and third top 25 for Knox in 10 PGA TOUR events this season.
Having previously played on the TOUR during the 2012 season, Knox earned his card back this season after playing primarily on the Web.com tour in 2013.
Making the most of his opportunities, he currently ranks 19th amongst all PGA TOUR players in teh FedEx Cup standings.
Next week the TOUR heads to the World Golf Championships - Cadillac Championship held at Trump National Doral in Miami, Fla.
