Meyer Wins Florida Relays Steeplechase in JU Record Time
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Senior Svenja Meyer capped off the JU track and field team’s first day of the Pepsi Florida Relays by winning the 3,000m steeplechase in a school-record 10:20.80, besting JU’s previous by 27 seconds. The Dolphins will conclude competition tomorrow with five events.
"Svenja continues to rewrite our distance record book," said Head Coach Ron Grigg. "She is being rewarded for her commitment to her training."
Kree Clark threw the discus to a ninth place finish in the invite, reaching 46.90m (153-10).
In the women’s discus throw Samantha Turner tossed to a 10th place finish with 45.40m (148-11) while Sally Marie Futch finished 17th with 42.94m (140-10).
In the 100m hurdles, Shanique Walker placed 18th of 65 in 13.62 seconds and Tatiana Wolfe finished 49th in 14.24 seconds. Shanique Walker and Wolfe finished the 400m hurdles in 20th and 43rd place, respectively, crossing in 1:00.08 and 1:03.94.
Kaitlyn Taylor placed 21st in the long jump with a reach of 5.44m (17-10.25).
In the 400m dash, Courtney Walker placed 19th of 63 in 54.47 seconds.
