Fins Raced in Final Meet Before Atlantic Sun Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University track and field competed in its final meet of the season on Friday before the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships begin next weekend. The Fins raced in Tallahassee at the FSU Twi-Light Invitational on May 9.

Shanique Walker (13.11 seconds) and Tatiana Wolfe (14.01 seconds) placed second and eighth, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles.

In the 1,500-meter run, Svenja Meyer, Katy Solis and Caitlin Marino finished second, ninth and 11th overall, respectively. Meyer ran in 4:35.92, Solis in 4:54.49 and Marino in 4:57.42.

Courtney Walker finished fourth in the 400-meter dash in 53.72 seconds.

Kree Clark, Sally Marie Futch and Samantha Turner placed fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, in the hammer throw, tossing 51.82m (170-00), 49.51m (162-05) and 42.64m (139-11).

In the triple jump Shanique Walker and Kaitlyn Taylor earned fifth and sixth, respectively, while Tiaona Smith finished 12th. Walker leapt 12.42m and Taylor 12.16m and Smith reached 11.39m.

Clark and Turner finished second and third in the discus with tosses of 52.26m and 48.38m, respectively, while Futch earned fifth with 42.00m.

Smith placed third in the high jump with a reach of 1.53m.

In the long jump, Kaitlyn Taylor and Stormm Phillips placed fifth and sixth, respectively, reaching 5.52m and 5.38m.

In the shot put, Turner, Clark and Futch took fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, with 14.13m, 12.58m and 12.40m. Petra Munkacsy placed 11th with 9.65m.

Chynna Monica Chung finished 11th in the 100-meter dash in 12.29 seconds.

Phillips and Chung finished 10th and 12th in the 200-meter dash, crossing in 24.78 seconds and 25.18 seconds.

Next, Jacksonville will compete in the A-Sun Outdoor Championships May 16-17.
