Rower Lauren Calhoun Earns National Scholar-Athlete Award

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior rower Lauren Calhoun (Baltimore, Md.) earned the National Scholar-Athlete Award for outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments, as announced by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) on Monday. Calhoun was a member of the Dolphin Lightweight 4+, Varsity 4+ and Varsity 8+ in 2004, winning a state title and earning three gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze in competition.
Calhoun earned gold at the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (FIRA) Championships, taking the state title by 29.8 seconds, while claiming silver at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championships. Calhoun also claimed gold and silver at the Petrakis Cup with the Varsity 4+ and Lightweight 4+, while claiming silver and bronze and the Rollins Invitational. Calhoun was named JU Rowing's 2004 women's MVP and earned the Bull Oarsman Award as JU's most outstanding overall individual oarsman.
A dance major, Calhoun earned Dean's List honors in the Fall of 2002 and the Fall and Spring of 2003, while also earning the Outstanding Achievement in Modern Dance award in 2003 and the Bachelor of Arts Award in Dance in 2004.
