Rowing Claims U.T. Bradley Cup at Rollins Invitational

The JU Men's Varsity 8 took home the U.T. Bradley Cup with a win over Georgia and Rollins College to lead the Dolphins to five gold medals at the Rollins Invitational, Saturday at Lake Matiland. The Men's JV 8, Men's Varsity 4, Men's JV 4 and the Women's Novice 8 also finished first in their respective events. The annual race also featured Rollins College, Barry, Miami, Stetson and Georgia.

The Men's Varsity 8 consisting of coxswain Jessica Marchant, Monita Rice, Bryan Brown, Robert Davis, Jess Brandt, David Weaver, Sean Duffey, Matthew Grothaus and Ian Hamlyn finished first with a time of 5:50.0. The Men's JV 8 with coxswain Michelle Henry, John Hoffman, Patrick Lura, Ben Bowerman, Lee Richard, Dudley Deshommes, Adam Heine, Matt Steinmann and Charlie Allen ranked first with a mark of 6:13.5. The Men's Varsity 4 with coxswain Jessica Marchant, Bryan Brown, Montia Rice, Robert Davis and Jess Brandt took first with a time of 6:24.9. The Men's JV 4 consisting of coxswain Evette Smith John Hoffman, Patrick Lura, Ben Bowerman and Lee Richard placed first with a 6:42.9. The Women's Novice 8 with coxswain Amanda Soukup, Jessica Tuten, Lyndsay Blair, Dru Rooks, Rachael Pacheco, Kate Gout, Ashley Flood, Laura Pacheco and Robin Corbo captured gold with a 7:03.7.

The Women's Novice 4 took silver with a mark of 8:03.5 and the Women's Varsity 8 finished third with a 6:49.0.

JU will next host the Petrakis Cup on the St. John's River on Saturday, March 26.
