Rowing to Compete in 67th Annual Dad Vail Regatta

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU rowing will send five boats to compete in the prestigious Dad Vail Regetta this Friday & Saturday, on the Schulykill River in Philadelphia. The Men's Varsity 8, Men's Freshman/Novice 8, Women's Lightweight 4, Women's Freshman/Novice 8 and the Women's Pair will compete in the 67th annual regatta, which features more than 100 colleges and 3,300 rowers from the United States and Canada.

The event will showcase 498 events and 19 different race categories with qualifying heats on Friday. Schools who qualify in the initial races will move on to semifinal heats on Saturday, with the event finals also being held on Saturday.

The Women's Pair with Nicholette Eagen and Amanda Bustos will compete on Friday at 8:03 a.m. against Toronto, Chicago, St. Thomas and Manhattan.

The Men's Varsity 8, consisting of coxswain Jessica Marchant, Monita Rice, Bryan Brown, Robert Davis, John Hoffman, David Weaver, Sean Duffey, Matthew Grothaus and Ian Hamlyn row, Friday at 10:44 a.m. against Dayton, Temple, St. Joeseph's, Georgia and Notre Dame.

The Women's Lightweight 4, consisting of coxswain Audrey Sefton, Kate Burke, Becky Watt, Lauren Calhoun and Julee Smith compete Friday at 2:35 p.m. vs. Lehigh, Wilamette, Georgia State, Susquehanna and Ohio.

The Men's Freshman/Novice 8 with coxswain Michelle Henry, Jess Brandt, Adam Heine, Chris Carter, Patrick Lura, Lee Richard, Greg Boccieri, Matt Steinmann and Charlie Allen will compete on Friday at 4:06 p.m. against St. Joseph's, Marietta, Trent, Florida Tech and Albany.

The Women's Freshman/Novice 8 with coxswain Amanda Soukup, Jessica Tuten, Lyndsay Blair, Dru Rooks, Rachael Pacheco, Kate Gout, Ashley Flood, Laura Pacheco and Robin Corbo will compete on Friday at 4:27 p.m. against St. Joeseph's, Drake, Georgia, Maryland-College Park and Connecticut.
