Track and Field Opens Season at Florida Indoor Intercollegiate

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University senior Monique Tubbs (Boston, Mass.) was the Dolphins' top finisher Saturday at the Florida Indoor Intercollegiate as she placed third in the 55-meter dash, while juniors Safiya Davy (Mitchellville, Md.) and Andrea Pressley (Upper Marlboro, Md.) both turned in top 10 performances in the 55-meter hurdles as the Dolphins opened the 2003 track and field campaign at the University of Florida.

Tubbs, a three-time 60-meter Indoor All-American, was the top qualifier in the 55-meter with a time of 6.86, but finished sixth tenths of a second behind Lauryn Williams of Miami in the finals with a time of 6.88. Senior Tamsin Anstey (N. Vancouver, BC) finished sixth in the one mile run, while Davy and Pressley finished fifth and eighth, respectively, in the finals of the 55-meter hurdles. Freshman Lindsey Moffenbier (McDonough, Ga.) finished 10th in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:39.82 in her first collegiate track and field meet.

The Dolphins return to the University of Florida on Sunday, Feb. 9 to compete in the Gator Invitational in Gainesville.
