Jan. 31, 2003

BOSTON, Mass. - Jacksonville University senior sprinter Monique Tubbs (Boston, Mass.) won the 55-meter dash at the Huskey Invitational hosted by Northeastern University Friday evening at the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Center in Boston with a time of 6.87. Tubbs, the 2001 60-meter NCAA Indoor National Champion, now prepares for the Boston Indoor Games Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Tubbs, a product of Boston Latin High School, won the prelims with a time of 6.93 and cruised to victory by a large margin in the finals. The Reggie Lewis Center is the site where Tubbs captured the 60-meter state and national high school championships as a senior at Boston Latin and is the same track in which she will compete against three members of the 2000 US Olympic Track and Field Team tomorrow evening in the 60-meter at the Boston Indoor Games.

The Boston Indoor Games, the opening event on the USATF's Golden Spike Tour, can be seen live on ESPN2 from 6-7:30 p.m., with the 60-meter slated to begin at 6:18 p.m.

Tubbs and the entire Dolphin team return to action at the Gator Indoor Invitational Sunday, Feb. 9 in Gainesville, Fla., at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
