March 1, 2003

BOSTON, Mass. - Jacksonville University senior sprinter Monique Tubbs (Boston, Mass.) finished fifth in the finals of the 60-meter dash Saturday at the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships at the Reggie Lewis T&F Center in Boston. Tubbs, the 2001 NCAA 60-meter Indoor National Champion, finished with a time of 7.32. Angela Williams, the 2002 NCAA 60-meter Indoor National Champion, finished first with a time of 7.16.

Tubbs finished fourth in Heat 1 with a time of 7.38 in the semifinals to qualify for the finals. If Tubbs had finished in the top two in the finals, she would have been selected to Team USA and would have had an opportunity to compete in the World Track and Field Indoor Championships, March 14-16, in Birmingham, England.

Tubbs will look to capture the 2003 60-meter NCAA Indoor National Championship, March 14, in Fayetteville, Ark. at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track.
