March 29, 2003

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University 4x100-meter relay team of juniors Safiya Davy (Mitchellville, Md.), Andrea Pressley (Upper Marlboro, Md.), Monique Tubbs (Boston, Mass.) and Tiffany Wright (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) finished fourth at the Florida Relays Saturday afternoon with a time of 45.17 at the Percy Beard Track in Gainesville.

The team's time fell one hundredths-of-a-second shy of a school record the four set at the 2001 Atlantic Sun Championships in Orlando, however, it does improve their NCAA regional qualifying time by 35 hundredths-of-a-second for this year.

The Dolphins had a very successful weekend at the Florida Relays as Tubbs set a new school record in the 100-meter dash yesterday with a time of 11.37, in addition to achieving an NCAA regional qualifying mark in the 200. Davy improved her NCAA regional qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.81, an improvement of 18 hundredths-of-a-second, which she had last weekend at the FSU Relays.

The JU track team returns to action next week and will be split between the Texas Relays, which is April 4-5, in Austin, Texas, and the South Florida Invitational in Tampa Saturday, April 5.
