Monique Tubbs Shatters Own School Record in 100-Meter Dash at Texas Relays; Finishes Second

AUSTIN, Texas - Jacksonville University junior sprinter Monique Tubbs (Boston, Mass.) shattered her own school record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.13w to finish second at the Texas Relays Saturday afternoon at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus.

LSU's Muna Lee won the race with a wind-aided time of 10.97. Tubbs set a school record last weekend in the 100-meter at the Coca-Cola Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., with a time of 11.37 en route to being named Atlantic Sun Track Athlete of the Week. Tubbs had the fourth-fastest qualifying time coming into the finals today after finishing second in her heat with a time of 11.41.

The Dolphins 4x100-meter relay team of Safiya Davy (Mitchellville, Md.), Andrea Pressley (Upper Marlboro, Md.), Tubbs and Tiffany Wright (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) finished fourth in the Invitational finals with a time of 45.18, after falling one spot shy of qualifying for the University/Collegiate finals yesterday.

The JU track team returns to action at the Atlantic Sun Championships, April 17-18, in Orlando, Fla., hosted by UCF.
