Track & Field Claims Five Events at UCF Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. - Senior Safiya Davy (Mitchellville, Md.) finished first overall in the 100-meter hurdles and senior Andrea Pressley (Upper Marlboro, Md.) won the javelin throw as the JU women's track and field team claimed five individual titles at the UCF Invitational. Sophomore Keiona Frenche (Riverdale, Md.) also won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.58, while Tiffany Wright (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) ran a personal-best 24.67 to finish first among all collegians in the 200-meter dash and Natasha Stevenson (Haverhill, Mass.) placed first among all collegians in the 400-meter run with a 57.61.

Davy, who also placed second in the 100-meter dash, ran a 13.97 in the finals to win the 100-meter hurdles. She also finished second among all collegians in the 200-meter dash with a 24.67 and helped the Dolphins place second in the 4x400 meter relay. Pressley won the javelin with a final throw of 37.66 meters and finished second in the shot put after throwing 13.54 meters in the finals. Wright placed fourth in the 100m with a 12.13 in the finals, while Lakisha Brooks (Upper Marlboro, Md.) and Ashley Williams (Oklahoma City, Okla) finished third and sixth, respectively, in the 400m.

Other top Dolphin performances included freshman Lindsay George (Foxboro, Mass.) placing third in the javelin with a final throw of 31.39 meters and freshman Stephanie Jeffers (Marston Mills, Mass.) finishing fourth in the shot put and the discus throw.

JU returns to action March 19-20 at the FSU Relays in Tallahassee, Fla.
