Women's cross country places fourth at the FSU Invitational

Junior Fallon Heffernan and freshman Alyssa Deal both finished in the top 10 to help the Jacksonville University women's cross country team place fourth at the FSU Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla., on Saturday morning.

"Today was very average," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "We have figured out how to train well, but now we need to figure out how to race well."

Heffernan was the women's top finisher for the second consecutive meet after placing sixth with a time of 18:50.34. Deal was four spots behind Heffernan in 10th place by recording a time of 19:02.72.

Junior Danielle Coyle (19:46.89) ranked 22nd, while freshman Tiffanie Saxton placed 31st with a time of 20:05.54. Stacey Ollar ran a time of 20:09.05 to take 33rd and Alison Ritter (20:13.02) finished 34th. Allison Bushey placed 71st with a time of 22:22.60 rounded out the Dolphin runners.

The Dolphins compete in their final regular season meet on Friday as they travel to participate in the Stetson Hatter Invitational at 5 p.m.
