Women's cross country finishes second, Men 11th at Stetson Invitational

The Jacksonville University women's cross country team finished a season-best second, while the men's team took 11th at the Stetson Invitational on Friday afternoon in DeLand, Fla.

Junior Fallon Heffernan was the women's top finisher for the third consecutive meet after placing third overall with a time of 19:48, while freshman Tiffanie Saxton finished a season-high eighth by running 20:21. Freshman Alyssa Deal took 18th with a time of 20:42 and Stacey Ollar followed a second behind at 19th. Junior Danielle Coyle ranked 25th (21:03) to round out the rest of the women's runners.

JU's men was led by junior Charlie Allen, who finished 42nd with 32:20. Freshman Matt D'Amico placed 55th with a time of 35:08, while Trebor De Verter ranked 57 (36:28). Josh Barrett ran a time of 37:11 to finish 59th. Michael Scully (37:17), Alan Jensen (39:13) and Kurt Stahl (40:36) wrapped up the rest of the men's runners.

Both Dolphins' cross country teams travel to Buies Creek, N.C. to compete in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 8 a.m.
