JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University track and field team officially begins the 2007 season on Saturday as they travel to compete in the Florida Intercollegiate, in Gainesville.

The Dolphins return 10 athletes from last season's squad that won the A-Sun indoor and outdoor track titles, led by senior Janita Ocana and sophomore Natasha Harvey.

"Our goals for the weekend are to compete hard and get a true evaluation of our training," said JU head coach Ron Grigg, who was named the A-Sun "Coach of the Year" in 2006.

Harvey along with freshman Tiffany Bromfield each competed over the winter break as they represented JU at the Yale Season Opener in New Haven, Conn., on Dec. 9.

Harvey posted a 7.69 to place first in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash before running a time of 7.72 in the finals to take the event. She also took second in the 200-meter dash (25.52) and recorded a personal-best in the shot put with a 10.96m to finish eighth.

Bromfield ran a time of 9.18 in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles. She took first in the finals with a mark of 9.24.

Bromfield finished ninth, behind Harvey, in the shot put with a 9.71m and ran a time of 27.70 in the 200-meter dash to place 15th.
