BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell University's volleyball team fell to 3-11 overall and 0-1 in the Trans America Athletic Conference after a 3-2 loss to Jacksonville University Saturday evening in Carter Gym. JU improved to 6-7 overall, 2-0 in the TAAC, with the 9-15, 15-13, 15-9, 8-15, 16-14 decision.
Jacksonville's Carrie Arago recorded 31 kills and eight errors in 67 attempts for a .343 attack percentage. She also shared a team-high 19 digs with Carrie Bosworth, who set 57 assists for the Dolphins. Kelly Hickman added 17 kills and 18 digs. Bosworth contributed 11 kills while Ericka Rutzebeck had five service aces. Jessica Windell had eight total blocks for the Dolphins.
Abby Jenkins and Kara Lewis each recorded 17 kills for the Camels, while Lewis had a match-high 24 digs. Five other CU players hit double figures in digs, including Tinsley Gordon (20), Jenkins (16), Pam Hughes (15), Alana Welch (12) and Crystal Brim (11). Gordon also had 14 kills. Hughes tallied 47 assists, while Gordon and Lewis both had three total blocks.
For the second match in a row, the Camels outhit an opponent they lost to. CU hit .230 for the game, while the Dolphins owned a .196 attack percentage. Campbell recorded 104 digs compared with Jacksonville's 86 digs.
