UCF Hands JU First Conference Loss

Jacksonville, Fla. - The University of Central Florida (15-10, 8-0) committed only three hitting errors on their way to a 3-0 (15-10, 15-5, 15-8) victory over Jacksonville University (12-10, 4-1) in volleyball action here Saturday night. With the victory, UCF remained undefeated in league play and wrapped up the Trans America Athletic Conference regular season title. The loss was the first for the Dolphins in TAAC play. The Golden Knights have now won 10 straight and 13 of their last 14.

Senior Susan Rosenberger (11) and sophomore Piper Morgan (10) both reached double-digit kills for the Golden Knights as the team combined to hit .404 (43-3-99) for the match. Freshman setter Becca Saldana paced the UCF attack with 35 assists, while senior Brandi McCollum recorded five service aces. Senior Lisa Rieman chipped in with a team-high 12 digs and eight kills for the Golden Knights, with no hitting errors in 17 attempts.

Jacksonville was once again led by the combination of sophomore Carrie Arago (13) and senior Kelly Hickam (11), the only Dolphins to post double-digit kills. As a team, JU was held to a .177 (37-17-113) hitting percentage for the match. Sophomore Carrie Bosworth picked up 26 assists, while Hickam and Arago paced the Dolphins with 12 and 10 digs respectively.

Jacksonville will return to action on Friday, November 5th at 7:00 when they host TAAC foe Samford in the first of two homecoming weekend matches. Meanwhile, UCF will step outside of the TAAC to host South Florida at 7:00 on November 2nd, the only team to beat the Golden Knights in their last 14 matches.
