BOCA RATON, Fla. - Junior outside hitter Carrie Arago (Orlando, Fla.) and senior middle hitter Tiffany Twaddle (Dallas, Texas) each recorded double-doubles as the Jacksonville University volleyball team defeated Florida Atlantic, 3-0, Friday night at FAU Gymnasium.
Arago finished the night with 12 kills and 12 digs while Twaddle tallied 11 kills and 11 digs. The Dolphins attacked the ball well all night, tallying a .310 hitting percentage with 46 kills and only 11 errors in 113 attempts. Twaddle, who did not commit a single attacking error in 17 attempts, finished the night with an impressive .647 hitting percentage.
Freshman outside hitter Kelly Ryals (Gainesville, Fla.) fell one kill shy of being the third JU player with a double-double, posting nine kills and a match-best 14 digs. Ryals, who committed just one error in 15 attempts, also had an impressive hitting percentage with a .533 mark for the contest.
The win marked the second time this season that JU defeated Florida Atlantic after beating the Owls 3-1 (15-2, 15-9, 3-15, 15-8) back on Sept. 29 in Swisher Gymnasium.
FAU's Lori Lombard tied Arago for match-high kill honors with 12 to lead the Owls while finishing with 11 digs for a double-double of her own.
The Dolphins continue their six-match road swing on Saturday, Oct. 28 when they travel to Tampa, Fla., to take on the Bulls of South Florida at 7 p.m.
