JU announces Nellie birthday video contest

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Nellie, Jacksonville University's mascot and the oldest living mascot in the country, will turn 55 years old on Feb. 27 and the University is creating a special contest in her honor.

The University is sponsoring a birthday video contest with all of the entries being submitted via YouTube. The winner of the contest will be determined on Feb. 26, with the winner receiving an iPod nano.

JU is planning a day of celebration on Feb. 27, with Nellie being presented an honorary degree by President Kerry Romesburg at Noon at Marineland in St. Augustine. There will be a birthday party on campus, starting at 5 p.m. The winner will be announced at the Happy Hour at Nellie's restaurant on campus that will have food and drink specials.
