JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After racking up five conference championships and having six teams represented in the NCAA postseason, the Jacksonville athletics department finished the 2006-07 season ranked 97th in the country in the U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup.

The Dolphins claimed the Atlantic Sun Conference title in women's soccer, indoor and outdoor track & field, women's tennis and baseball, with the men's golf team sending two individuals to regionals.

Jacksonville is the highest ranked team in the A-Sun and is fourth among schools in the state of Florida - trailing only Florida, Florida State and Miami. The ranking is also the highest ever for JU, shattering the former record of 136th set in 2001.

"We had a very good year athletically and this ranking is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of all our student-athletes and coaches," said JU director of athletics Alan Verlander. "There are so many exciting things happening at JU right now and this shows how far we have come in a short time."
