Football reports to camp

Aug. 6, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - "Today is one of the most exciting days of the year."

That quote from JU head football coach Kerwin Bell shows the excitement around the campus today as 105 players reported for fall camp on Monday.

"Today sets the tone for the season," Bell said. "Everything we do from this point forward is leading us to our goal of winning the Pioneer Football League Championship."

The Dolphins spent Monday handling some housekeeping - moving into dorm rooms for camp, filling out compliance forms, getting clearance from the sports medicine staff to registering for classes.

The day wraps up with the first official team meeting at 8 p.m., with the coaches and staff addressing the team as a whole for the first time.

That is just a prelude to Tuesday afternoon and the first practice of fall camp at 3 p.m. The Dolphins will practice once each day this week before their first scrimmage on Saturday.
